I don’t know anything about vet insurance, but I know is he isn’t eating or drinking, he needs to go to the vet asap

Not eating or drinking for two days is serious.

    Vet right away!

Wait 14 days and your dog will probably be dead.

Take him immediately to a vet! Dogs always eat, when they do not it is a problem. And a dry, cracked nose is a sign of sickness.

Yes this is very serious. Not drinking in a couple of days leads to severe dehydration. Your dog could die from that. Do you want to play it by ear for 14 days or do you want a dead dog within just a couple days? Sorry to be so blunt but this dog needs to be checked out by the vet. Have your parents bring him in ASAP.

Not eating and a DRY nose is a sure sign of sickness in dogs. You should get to the vet as quick as you can. f you wait 14 days and your dog doesn’t eat on ANY of those days you can bet he is gonna die and that insurance won’t matter much then.

Not eating or drinking is a sign of sickness. But has he vomited lately and when was his last BM. Also, has he eaten any foreign objects? Try giving him gatorade, this will help replenish some of his electrolytes and make him less dehydrated. But you need to take him to the vet asap, it could be more serious than you think, how old is your dog and what is his breed also?

The dog can’t wait that long. It has to see a vet immediately.

    Sorry.

I worked at a vet as an assistant for 3 years, I see this all the time. Your dog is dehydrated. Take it to the vet asap. He needs fluid under his skin, sounds scary but will help. You know how you scruff a cat at the skin by there shoulder blades, thats where the fluids go (lactated ringer solution) their body will absorb it within a days, or try giving him plain chicken to eat. BUT YOU MUST TAKE HIM TO THE VET!!!

He’s going to go into organ failure and die before much longer.
Is he older? Is he vomiting or having diarrhea? Can you force him to drink by using a syringe with pedialyte?

He can’t wait to go to the vet. He will die. I’m so sorry that your parents don’t see the emergency here. It’s very hard to love a dog and want to care for it, yet not be able to because Mom and Dad won’t help. I’m so sorry.

He really needs to see a vet as soon as possible. In the meantime, stationary the dog between your legs, hold his head back, & put a tablespoon of water at the back of his mouth, between the teeth, slowly. You didn’t say if this was an older dog or not, but older dogs will stop eating/drinking before they leave us. If it’s a young dog, something is wrong, & don’t wait around for the insurance to click in. Dry noses are never a good thing, for the noses are supposed to be moist.
