Just like with human insurance they won’t cover preexisting conditions, and a few I checked wouldn’t cover an acl surgery until after a year of service. Most pet insurances are B.S. You’d have better luck working with your vet on a payment plan.

Like kdoulos said, work with your vet on a payment plan. Think about it, the money you would be spending monthly on Pet Insurance that may or may not cover your pets vet bills could be put toward a “rainy day” fund for when your pet does get sick or need surgery.

Plus, if your pet is healthy through the rest of his or her life, the money won’t be wasted. Heart murmurs may or may not cause any problems, but having money saved up is much better than fighting with a pet insurance company to pay what they owe.

Unlike human health insurance, pet insurance is basically a load of crap, you pay a lot of money for coverage that may, or may not cover your pet for something very basic.

check out what the policy states. Just don’t go with just any insurance, because some will accept pets with preexisting conditions – the premium may be high though.

I guess it depends on the pet insurance you go with. I believe that they might consider it pre-existing so I would recommend calling up the insurance company and see what they think. I would definitely recommend getting pet insurance though for your GSD because I think pet insurance is pretty helpful when you get those vet bills. I have pet insurance with Trupanion and I have had some pretty positive experience with them. You should really check them out and ask them about your question.
