I just bought my puppy two days ago from a breeder. She is only 7 weeks old, born in Feb 18, 2011.
Today i noticed that her breathe smell really bad like a dead skunk or something like that. She breathe really hard and her heart beats so fast whenever she is sleeping. She sometimes has a running nose. Well her nose has a tiny water coming out of her nose. Is that normal?
I’m planning to take her to the vet next week on Monday when I get pay. I’m kinda broke right now
So I have to wait until next Monday when I have enough money to pay for her vet bills. I’m going to get her the pet insurance.
Please tell me that my dog is normal
I’m so worry about her. I don’t know what to do.
she sometime wakeup durning her sleep and start breathing so fast with her tongue sticking out. Then after 5 minutes she go back to sleep. What should I do? I don’t have money to take her to the vet until this upcoming monday.
puppy breath! all puppies have this weird breath when they’re a couple weeks.
it will completely go away within 5-6 months
brush its teeth, its healthy for them
all puppies have bad breath. It’s just part of being a puppy. Sounds like she may be hot and is panting to cool off. dogs will also pant if they are feeling anxious or distress. I really don’t think it’s anything to get all upset about. unless she starts not eating and drinking, I think you will be fine until your vet appointment.
I think she is just fine. Dogs are supposed to have wet noses and somtimes they drip. Remember that dogs don’t sweat so if they are warm they pant. Human babies can’t always regulate their body temperature and I would bet that puppies are similar…her breathing is just her body trying to control her temperature. Make sure to just make notes of questions to ask your vet
Lyn Lyn,
There is nothing wrong with your puppy. However, it seems to me your puppy is in an over heated environment. A runny nose is normal especially if the dog is over heated and her tongue sticking out tells me that. Dogs don’t have sweat glands like we do, they sweat thru there tongues, which will drip as well as a dripping nose. I would suggest that you cut down on the heat. As for her bad breath. Go to a pet store and buy a small beef bone for her to gnaw on, shell love you for that. This will not only clean her teeth, but make them strong as well and help in her teething. This should get rid of the bad breath. It is no different than our not brushing our teeth, we get bad breath. The bone will clean her teeth. Pet stores also have nylon bones that are designed for cleaning dogs teeth. I hope that I have been of some help to you and your puppy.

Other than the fact that she is way too young to be away from her Mom and littermates, this sounds totally normal.
I’d stay far away from the vet for now. That’s a very likely place to be exposed to disease.
