can they give cortizone shots? Maybe you can call the animal shelter, and they could give you some ideas.. of agencies to help good luck.

I love my dog to death too… but $3000 isnt worth it. You can buy a doggy wheelchair or something.

You could call some chihuahua rescue groups they might help or you could do a yard sale, bake sale ask family and friends to help

    Try applying for Care Credit:
    1-800-365-8295.

They will tell you right over the phone if you qualify.

    good luck!

This is why you shouldn’t pay $$ for purebred dogs, they get all mutated from inbreeding. Dogs are companions, not fashion statements.

If you cannot find a way to raise money for the surgery, then the most humane thing to do would be to find a rescue organization that will take your dog. You could also try the humane society, spca, or other local no-kill organization.

Many rescue organizations post animals on petfinder.com. You can find local rescues near you to contact. Some rescues will help you post a listing for your dog as well. This means that you will have to give up your dog, but your dog will at least have a chance to get treatment and to live a long happy life with another loving family. When you look at it that way, it is the best thing for the dog. If you love him, it is really the best thing to do and better than having to put her to sleep.

You are unlikely to get any help with the cost. It’s all a part of owning a pet. I would suggest going to a different vet though as that cost is very high. I know 2 people who have had double patella surgery done on Chihuahua’s this year, by a top specialist and both cost under $4,000 and that was as i said for both knee’s. $1,500-$2,000 is more normal for this type of surgery on one knee by a regular vet.

I would try the care credit number given by GoldenGal. That way you can pay it off monthly or see if your vet will take payments.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I do have a list or organizations that may or may not be able to help and I’ll give you the links, but fist, as some of the others have mentioned, you can try applying for Care Credit, which most vets offer.

I don’t don’t what your time frame is or how long it takes to get an approval, nor do I know where any of these organizations are located, but you have nothing to lose by checking into them. I know that one of the links appears to be for cats, but I think it covers all pets.

I hope that one of these links can help you , but try asking your vet about Care Credit first.

Good luck and best wishes to your little dog. I hope that one of these organizations will be able to help and she makes a quick and speedy recovery.

    What stage is it?

You can find a vet who will do it for less. Until you can have it done, you should confine the dog to a smaller area to keep her quiet and not allow her to jump.
