it autopends on what you buy, like if you buy dry food, instead of wet, ect.
Also, I got a lab mutt at the pound, and we got her spayed 4 free, also, mutts r usually nicer and hapier!
    Good luck!

    DONT DO IT!!!
We have a four year old lab, and they are freaks! Love the dog to death, but…..Puppies are a LOT of work (our first dog was about two years old from the pound, best dog ever..) The lab is prone to problems (hip displacia (spelling?)) etc. Food wise, we feed him IAMS, which goes about $30 for 40 lb., should last more than a month a bag.. Vet bill is about $250 a year, on average, which includes check up, vaccinations, rabies, etc. Every year its a booster or something else (our vet runs a bit expensive, by the way). We also give him 3 Glucosomine pills a day for the hip problems, and that runs about $90 for 250.

My favorite breed of dog is the Labrador Retriever. Someday I’d like to breed them:) Right now we have A Lab mutt, she just had puppies 5 weeks ago and they are the most adorable things:D
Our family gets Purina Dog Chow it costs about $18 for the large bag and lasts ABOUT 3 and a half weeks, right nowwe are using alot more than that because she’s nursing. You have to pay for worming, check-ups, puppy shots, etc.

Labradors are one of the most popular breed of dogs in the United States. Their popularity is due to their excellent temperament and intelligence. This breed is highly recommended for most types of families, especially families with children of all ages. Labradors are sociable dogs, so please give the dog plenty of attention! Because of there size of about 60-80 lbs. it is also not recommended that they be kept in small living conditions. Make sure your Lab get lots of excercise!
a Lab’s intelligence is well known in the dog world…therefore, keeping your Lab stimulated is very important. Labradors are instinctive retrievers, so provide fetching toys for your dog, such as an extra large sized tennis ball, a stick, rubber toys, etc.
Labradors are water dogs. Their coat is specially designed to repel water and insulate them from cold water, or even the cold weather. Introduce your Lab to water early. The older they get the harder it’s going to be to get them into the water. And some Labs don’t even like water, so if yours dosen’t, don’t think you picked out the wrong one:)
Grooming. Labradors do require a little grooming, (not as much as some other breeds). Once a week or even once every two weeks is fine. They are going to shed just like anyonther dog, as much as 3-6 times a year.
They also do have some health problems related to poor breeding. Be sure that you have investigated your breeder’s history carefully for the following common health problems; Hip Dysplasia, Allergies, and Eye problems.

I have a pure breed golden retriever. Ill tell you one thing. You need to walk them a lot and for a long time because thats a kind of dog that needs a lot of excersize. A bag of food that costs AVG. 50 dollars lasts us for a month. Incaliufornia, you have to pay for his dog license which is pretey expensive. $30 for a year, cheap but expensive just for having him registred. It doesnt do anything to you

It all depends on what you do. I have (2) goldens and they run me about $ 50-75 a month for food. However I only feed the very best food (Solid gold/ Innova). Ergo I spend more on food and less on vet bills, because the good food will keep them healthy for longer. Also I do not have to have them groomed. I also spend like $20 a month on toys and treats etc. So I’d say my 2 pure bred retrievers cost ~$100 per month. A very small price for so much love and happiness.

i have a one year old yellow lab and she is wonderful i wouldnt trade her for the world but i will admit that she was pricey in the beginning (altho i got her when she was 3 months old and no medical history) so naturally its going to cost a pretty penny for any vet visit but not that shes a year old i buy 50 lbs of food about once a month for her and my other dog to eat so in the beginning its expensive but it doesnt stay that way.
